Welcome to Navy Yard
A smartly designed neighborhood with lively nightlife
Navy Yard is a neighborhood located along the northern bank of the Anacostia River in southeast Washington DC. The neighborhood’s name comes from the Washington Navy Yard that takes up approximately half of the neighborhood’s area. Recognizing the area’s assets, Pierre Charles L’Enfant decided to place the budding city’s new commercial center and wharves in what is now Navy Yard. After its establishment in 1799, the Washington Navy Yard was the largest shipbuilding facility in the nation for decades. Today, it is known for being the longest continuously operated federal facility.
